The Carpathian Mountains belong to five countries and a great number of nations. In terms of diversity of the natural environment, they constitute one of the most valuable regions in Europe and, what is more, they are the phenomenon of multiculturalism, the meeting point of two civilisations – the Latin West and the Byzantine East. Mutual relations of the nations were not always peaceful; that is why, there was a need to create the plane for international and interpersonal cooperation – the Carpathian Euroregion. It consists of bordering regions of Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Ukraine and Hungary.

ROMANIA – the area of Bihor, Sǎlaj, Satu Mare Marmureş, Hargita, Suceava, Botoşani. The main tourist attractions are the monuments of Suczawa, Oradea, and Zalǎu, the crystal range f Apusenia with ’The Kingdom of the Carpathian Kras’ – Padiş and Maramureş known for its tradition, unique handicraft, carefully promoted folklore, wooden Orthodox churches (on the UNESCO list) and the Merry Cementary located in Săpânţa
SLOVAKIA – the regions of Koszyce and Preszow. The main tourist attractions are the monuments of Koszyce, Preszow, Bardejov and the Spiż region, the National Parks of Slovak Kras and Slovak Paradise with their caves located on the UNESCO list, The Pieniny Mountains and the Highest Tatrea Mountains which are protected due to famous national parks, and less known but worth exploring the National Park of Mountain Pastures called Połoniny
UKRAINE – the districts of Lvov, Zakarpacie, Iwanofrankowsk, Czerniowiec. The main tourist attractions are the monuments of Lvov (the biggest capital city of the region), Użhorod, Mukaczew and Czerniowiec, ‘The Golden Semicircle’ of residential and defensive architecture of the Lvov district and famous mountain ranges of Gorgany and Czrnohora popular with all real lovers of the Carpathians
HUNGARY – Borsod – Abaúj – Zemplén; Heves; Jász – Nagykun – Szolnok; Hajdú – Bihar; Szabolcs – Szatmár – Bereg. The main tourist attractions are the monuments of Debreczyn, wine districts of Tokaj and Eger, national parks on the UNESCO list – Aggtelek (caves), Hortobágy (forest), the Bukowe Mountains and the Mátra Mountains, the Cisa Lake and Hajdúszoboszló – the biggest complex of swimming pools in Europe
